Human Growth Hormones and Controversy

Hgh or human growth hormones have many benefits for athletes and older adults.  The benefits for athletes include increased performance in many sports such as running faster, better endurance for sustaining performance in any competition and the growth of muscle in place of weight.  However if the athlete is competing in such high profile competitions, like the Olympics and Tour de France and many others, it is illegal to have human growth hormone in their body.

Human growth hormones or hgh, is a natural occurring process in the body from birth until we are in our mid-20s.  At this time, the process slows down and only works for the renewal of tissues in the body and to help the growth of vital organs, such as your spleen or kidneys.  This is why you do not see extremely tall older people because you stop growing taller which effects the pituitary gland and hgh.  Some parents concerned about their children’s short statue contact doctors to prescribe hgh so that their children will grow taller.  In addition to getting hgh through a doctor, one can buy human growth hormone through the Internet; however one must make sure to purchase for a reputable company.  The FDA controls the production of hgh.  When you purchase from overseas or another country you do not know what kind of hgh you are going to receive.

Hgh is not without its controversies. In addition to being illegal for athletes, hgh side effects are numerous.  The side effects include insulin resistance, diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain and stiffness in corporal tunnel disease.  It is best to be under a doctor’s supervision while taking human growth hormones.
